Lee, Bruce (1940 - 1973)

Legendary movie star, known for his martial arts films such as Enter the Dragon, Fists of Fury and The Big Boss. Bruce Lee was also the creater of the eclectic Kung Fu style, Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee was born Jun Fan Lee in San Francisco before his parents moved back to Hong Kong. Jun Fan means "return again", the hope of his parents being that he would return to the United States. He began his martial arts career by studying Wing Chun. He came to the United States and changed his name to Bruce. There he taught Kung Fu, naming his style Jeet Kune Do in 1967. He first came to public attention after appearing as Kato in The Green Hornet and became involved in the movie business.

After his premature and mysterious death, his notes on fighting were published in "the Tao of Jeet Kun do".
