Sensei Enoeda was the Chief European Instructor with the JKA and head of the
Karate Union of Great Britain. He was born in Fukuoka, Japan. He reached 2nd Dan in
Judo by the time he was 16 and began karate at Takashoku
University where, for a short while, he received instruction from Gichin Funakoshi. He studied under
Masatoshi Nakayama and Hidetaka Nishiyama.
In 1963 he became All Japan Karate kumite Champion
and acquired the nickname "Tora" ("The Tiger").
He received invitations to instruct in various countries around the world but eventually
joined his friend Hirokazu Kanazawa in England. He instructed full-time at the Red Triangle Dojo in Liverpool.
For many years Sensei Enoeda lived in Surrey and taught at his Marshall Street club in London. Sensei Enoeda sadly died from cancer in 2003.
